It is important to choose your paddle according to your height (up to your wrist with your arm help up for kayak paddles, up to your chin for canoe paddles), your activity (double paddle for kayaking, single paddle for canoeing, symmetrical for white water, asymmetrical for trekking) and your level. For your safety, use a paddle leash to keep your paddle and your craft together.

ADVICE on how to choose
PADDLES

TYPE OF ACTIVITY

Kayaking:
Double paddle
For rigid and inflatable kayaks. Length depends on your height and use. The blades (symmetrical or asymmetrical) are crossed at between 75° and 90° for more comfort in your wrists and the tops of your hands.
Canoeing:
Single paddle
For rigid canoes. Only has one blade. The flat and symmetrical blade is used vertically, which ensures maximum efficiency in all situations (in white water, for effective propulsion).

CHOICE CRITERIA

Sizes:
For kayaking   For canoeing:

Hold your arm up above your head and bend your wrist: if the paddle touches your fingers when resting on the floor, the size is right!   If the paddle touches the bottom of your chin when it is resting on the floor, the size is right!
Power:
Symmetrical blades Asymmetrical blades
The blade exerts unequal forces on either side. This imbalance is felt through the handle and you compensate with your forearms. Asymmetrical blades have a bevelled shape and compensate automatically for imbalance, optimising your paddling effort.
Convenience:
Detachable paddles
Oval right-hand marking
