3-layer clothing system
To get the most out of sailing, even in difficult conditions, the most important thing is to stay dry. You need clothes that will keep the humidity that causes you to feel cold as far away from your skin as possible whilst at the same time keeping warmth in and protecting you from rain, spray and anything else the sea has to throw at you. That is the aim of our 3-layer clothing system.

ADVICE on how to choose
LAYER FLEECES AND VESTS
Fleeces and vests make up the insulation layer , which keeps your body at the right temperature whilst allowing moisture to wick away to the outside. Here are the 4 main criteria to consider when choosing your fleece and vest:
  TRANSFER INSULATION PROTECTION

Protection/Insulation
Breathability
Water repellence
Comfort and movement
Layer conserves a reasonable amount of the heat generated by your body. The fleece fabric is woven very densely. After weaving, one or two sides of the fabric are brushed to increase over all volume and optimise its ability to trap the air that will play an insulating role. Fleece comes in several different fabric weights (100, 200, 300 etc.), and the higher the weight, the better the insulation. In addition, some products have a polyamide fabric on the outside, which windproofs the garment and further reduces heat loss. To continue wicking moisture from layer to the outside of the garment, layer uses a specific synthetic fibre construction. This structure means the inside of the fabric absorbs moisture and massively diffuses it on the outside. Some products also have a water repellent surface treatment, which means water droplets form on and slide off the surface of the fabric without penetrating. Fabric is made water repellent by spraying a siliconebased coating on the outside of the fabric. To prevent warm air from escaping, some garments have elasticated cuffs and waist drawstrings. Zipped pockets mean that you can carry your must have accessories (knife, shackles, etc.) on you at all times. Some have full length zips making them easier to put on.
If a layer garment has a label, , this means you can zip it easily into a compatible jacket.
