How to choose a mask
CHOOSING YOUR MASK ACCORDING TO YOUR USE
SNORKELLING AND SCUBA DIVING
You want to observe sea life from the surface or when scuba diving.
Your mask should give you a wide field of vision.
SPEAR FISHING/FREE DIVING
You need a mask with a small interior volume to ease compensation (prevents the mask being crushed). The fishing mask :
- Eases compensation
- Has a wide field of vision
- Does not compress the face
MASK CHOICE CRITERIA
Single lens masks often provide a wide field of vision.
Test your field of vision.
The comfort and ergonomics of your mask depend on the skirt, which is why 100% of the masks chosen by Decathlon have silicone skirts. Consider neoprene straps for long hair and for children.
For free diving, the mask interior volume should be as low as possible.
Twin-lens masks have a lower interior volume than mono-lens masks.
